MaverickAHLots of people raving about the DM6 but sold out everywhere. Seems like there might be a supply issue. Recent drop got refunded and another not shipping till March. Only one review on head-fi but very positive. Hard to find comparisons between the two. Bad Guy Good Audio Reviews on YouTube favored the DM6 over the Toneking.... for what it's worth. He didn't go into much specifics other than not liking the bass on the Toneking. His December top five had the DM6 at the top and the ToneKing had fallen off the list. Hope this helps. I'm torn too. Was leaning toward DM6 and probably would have pulled the trigger if wait wasn't so long. These definitely seem promising. Just wish there were more reviews.

MaverickAHI just got my ToneKings in this afternoon and I'll offer just a brief impression. I also have the DM6s but have limited listening time on them as well so I'm not yet prepared to offer a comparison and preference yet. Out of the box I can say the T88Ks sound really nice. The bass is solid but not real heavy. The mids and treble are quite balanced and smooth. As with all IEMs the seal is very important and I seem to have a little difficulty getting a good seal on anything other than the large silicon tips. I'm not impressed with the fit and comfort with the stock tips so when I get home later I'll have others to try out. It seems like the nozzle needs to be a tad longer to penetrate the tips further into my ear canal. I definitely see some promise with these as long as I can find a good fitting and sealing set of tips. I used to not buy into the concept of driver break-in periods but I had an experience with another brand IEM that sounded horribly harsh at first but after around 40 hours of play I definitely began hearing a big improvement in them and as time went on they settled in really nice. Now, I don't believe all earphones require a break-in period but I'm now of the opinion that some will benefit from it. Having said that I would like more time with these and the DM6 before offering a comparison. I wish I could help you decide but with my limited listening time on both I just don't want to steer you wrong. They are both great sounding IEMs. Edit: 2019-01-09 I have been listening more and comparing these to the DM6 and I honestly prefer the DM6 over these. The Tonekings just sound flat and 1 dimensional in comparison especially with my IPod Classic and the Hiby R3. I do get better results when I plug them into my desktop system which includes the THX AAA 789 Amp and a little EQ. The DM6 just have more width to the soundstage and more air in the treble. On their own i thought they were OK but after comparing them I just feel like something is missing. If the Tonekings don't open up after another 50 hours or so of play time I may just sell them.

dgt5Here's my dilemma…… I already have a set of Tenhz P4 Pro's & a set of BGVP DMG's. The DM6 use the same bass BA as the P4 Pro (Knowles 22955). Yes, BGGA says the DM6 is his favorite, but...…….
  1. Too many inconsistencies. He criticizes the driver in the P4 Pro because it doesn't respond well to equalization but loves it in the DM6.
  2. He doesn't believe in burn-in.
  3. The reason that the T88K's are off his Top 5 is that he no longer has them & can't do a compare. It has nothing to do with whether they are better or worse.
In my experience, #2 alone is enough for me to not take any of his review seriously. Me? I like my DMG's over the P4 Pro's but the P4 Pro's are no slouch! They've 3 flaws to my ears that put them behind. I really need to put up a review on them. Maybe this weekend...….

MaverickAHThanks for the info. My dilemma is Chi-Fi is so hard to try before you buy. It's always a gamble pulling the trigger on reviews alone.

CyberthingyThe cost of the T88K's over the DM6's is significant. The T88K's drivers ae all Knowles from top to bottom & I'm pretty sure the BA's used are superior to what's used in the DM6. Both are in the region where the law of diminishing returns kicks in. Is the T88K worth almost 2X the price of the DM6? Is the DM6 worth almost 2X the price of the DMG? Like is said, I really enjoy the sound of my DMG's. That's mostly due to those 2 dynamic drivers they use for the bass. Now it's not that I dislike the bass that the P4 Pro produces. It's fine in an $80 IEM. I'm just not sure that I want the same bass in a $175 IEM.

MaverickAHYou have a very valid point. These are almost twice the cost of the DM6. I don’t expect them to sound significantly better. In the end I may find that these are inferior. I liked the DMG a lot from the very first listen. So much so that I sold the FIIO FH5s I had. I’m not yet convinced I’ll like the DM6 over the DMG. I’m still assessing and allowing a little time for break-in. I ordered another DMG because I want a set with balanced cable and one with 3.5mm so I don’t have to swap cables or use an adapter on a couple of my DAPs that don’t have a balanced jack. I think that means I’m committed to this hobby..
