I own the "commuter briefcase" aka the 12L version of this that doesn't have a second pocket or zip all the way around. I needed something I could use as a personal item when traveling by air in addition to my 35L backpack that holds the rest of my stuff.
The good: - Converting from messenger to backpack is awesome - Right balance of style and function - Just the right amount of internal organization
The Meh: Honestly a convertible messenger/backpack involves sacrifices insofar as a messenger doesn't work well flipped on it's side and slapped on your back NOR do the straps work perfectly as they have to be sort of thin to accommodate being stowed.
It fit a very specific use case and if I had to do it all over again I'd prob buy the above to give myself a bit more flexibility while packing. Mystery Ranch makes a convertible briefcase like this and frankly I prefer the Topo version. So if you're in the market for such a thing I can recommend this one.
