I'm having trouble justifying the extra cost for a Topping D50 over this D10. I know the D50 measures well, and it has a newer ESS chip.
But I think with a low/midrange amp and decent headphones, it wouldn't be possible for my ears to hear a difference between the D10 and D50. My source is Tidal over USB mainly, some SACDs from my Oppo CD transport. I would drive the D10 from a really clean USB power source.
Should I spend the extra 175 bucks and the D50? I have my doubts.

timothomNope, the D10 performs pretty well for the price, and difference will be negligible on your setup. Unless your USB port is noisy, in which case I'd suggest getting the D30 or a special cable that splits voltage input and signal i/o for the D10 (watch the discussion down below).

timothomDon't forget that there's also the D30 to consider, which is $119. (I think it was $104 on Massdrop?)

NothatsoYea, that's probably the way I'll go.
I also have a Sabaj DA3. which is a portable DAC/amp. I wonder if it would be a 'good enough' DAC when set to a proper volume to the amp it was plugged in to?

timothomI recently reviewed and measured the Sabaj DA3: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/review-and-measurements-of-sabaj-da3-dac-compared-to-dragonfly-black.3503/
As you see there, it does well so I don't see why you can't use it as a DAC.

amirmYea, it seems to be working just fine. I got a 2.5mm balanced cable to RCAs so I can run it in balanced mode. As long as I keep the volume on it between 22 and 29 it seems ok
