ParkflyersRCAfter a few days of break in the USB section sounds better than the Optical Port. The forwardness has gone away.
really happy with my setup. Will report back after a few more days of break-in.

After auditioning the D50 with the USB connection for an hour I switched to Optical port. To my surprise the optical sounds twice as good as USB despite only being able to output at a max of 96KHZ. Im shocked !! Sounds less digital and more natural. If your using an Apple Computer you will need to change settings located in "Midi" section. It defaults to 44KHZ. You need to change to 96KHZ to get the best results....
The overall sound quality is above average and its a great deal at $200. I'm relieved it has no forwardness or compression like other cheap Dac's in the same price range. Sound signature is very tastefully done. The twin Sabre chips are working nicely in this setup. Using with Gustard H10 CLASS A AMP ( Burson V6 Opamps Installed) with Tidal streaming for music. Headphones HD650 and Beyer DT1990. (The 1990s are way way better than Senns btw....)
I'm expecting it to improve considerably just as every other DAC I have ever purchased. I will update this review as the days roll by.....This could be an "End Game" setup for Entry Level Hifi around the $600 Dollar mark. I think spending more than this setup would be foolish.
