I just picked up the D50 on the current active drop. I am looking for solid state amp recommendations under $300. I am not a Schiit fan so just wanted to get that out of the way. I already have a Darkvoice 336se. I guess most people start with solid state first and then go tube amp. I did it the other way around. I love the Darkvoice but I'm curious as to what else is out there in the solid state realm. I would be using them with my Sennheiser HD6XX

BuckabooHave you tried the objective 2 amp? its pretty good neutral flat sound. I own 1 from mayflower. It's about 120.

Audionoob187No I haven't. I own a pair of Sennheiser 6XX. I wonder how the two would pair together.

BuckabooThey sound pretty good with the 6xx I own a pair of 6xx as well. I've ran the 6xx with the cavalli tube amp and the O2, both sound good. The Cavalli does get a bit louder as it's a x8 Gain and the O2 is maxed at x6 gain. Even with the O2 set at x6 gain though I never really go past 12 much. Everyone favors tube amps with the 6xx though. I think the O2 is just as good.

Audionoob187I'm thinking about taking another look at the Schiit Magni 2. Which is $49.00 on their website... I wonder if it will be "good enough."

BuckabooI'm not sure about the Magni I don't own any shiit, how ever i'm sure there are plenty out there who do. I've seen the name thrown around plenty. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE8pvqBlges&t=297s, not sure if we can share links but Zeos Reviews is a pretty good place to start your homework.

BuckabooMagni 3 not 2. You have a 200 dollar dac so give it some amp to grow. Your not into Schiit but now you are. You may want to figure out why you feel you need a “solid state” amp and work from there. Sounds like you have what you need until then.

BuckabooI've got a Topping D30 paired with an Aune X7S. It's a noticeable sound quality upgrade over my Mayflower O2/ODAC Rev B ( 1x and 3.3x medium gain ) and my Asus Xonar STX. In fact the X7S/D30 is making me rethink liking my HD 600s more than my HD 650s. Single ended is a sound quality upgrade for all my headphones. Balanced is even better.
I got the X7S here at Massdrop for $200 in May. Got a balanced cable ( stock HD 650 cable he reterminated in a 4 pin Neutrik XLR ) from CorpseCables on ebay for $55. I'm about to order a second one so I won't have to keep switching when I change between the 600s and 650s.
The HD 600s and HD 650s LOVE the X7S. So do my TH-X00 Mahoganies and TH-X00 Ebonies.

I thought about going with the D50 but the D30 is fine to my ears. There absolutely is something to a class A amp though.

anort3I love my Aune stack (X1s, X7s) I recommend getting an XP1 power supply for the X7s. Cleaner audio.

AML01If someone is going to buy the XP1 power supply wouldnt they be better off just buying the S7 if they didn’t have any Aune product?

BuckabooWell, yeah. But if you have an X7s, the XP1 is a good addition.

cgouyAmazon. It's made by Topping and is designed for the D30 / A30 stack.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NCZQ0ZZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's shown in pictures on the Topping website but I don't see it available through there.
