Does this come with a remote as indicated in the picture? From what I've read, D7Xs does not have a remote?

d3rrlckOk I found some info in the forums. The D7X remote will work with the D7Xs but Topping is selling it separately for the D7Xs package. However Massdrop included it in the picture, so does it mean this drop includes the remote?

d3rrlckHoly crap you're right. They do not include a remote with the 7s. I find it just bizarre. I have a DX7 (legacy) and I can't imagine not having a remote with this thing. It's just soo handy and I've come to love it. I do wish they would've launched this product out of the gate with the new chip and remote. Anyways that being said.. I run an HD800S balanced off mine and it's simply incredible. I've listened to a few setups (Schiit Magni 2U, DarkVoice 336SE, Little Dot MK3, Project Ember amp) and the DX7 is honestly my favorite (also the only one that's balanced). I can only imagine the DX7s will sound even better due to the DAC upgrade.

EstasenkoYeah folks are saying the same thing about the remote, it's just really a handy switch when you need to change some settings. By the way, would you say the DX7 sounded like a typical ESS chip which many describes as detailed and clinical? I was only able to listen to ESS chip on LG mobile phone for a short period of time, and I can understand why they're describing it in such way. I was on the verge of purchasing the Matrix i-Mini Pro2 DAC/AMP until I saw this drop which hopefully includes the remote. I don't care much about the amp since I have a Matrix HPA-3B fully-balanced and Ember II tube amp, and I'm also using Chord Mojo DAC which gets really tiring to charge the battery from time to time so I decided to get a fully balanced desktop DAC that fits the bill.

d3rrlckIt has incredible amounts of detail and transparency but I'm not sure if I'd describe it as "clinical". It's not completely cold/analytical - there's a little bit of warmth to it. Just enough in my opinion and I would argue that this DAC/AMP combo is very neutral in just about every aspect. When I describe my DX7, I tend to use words like - transparent, neutral, reference, balanced sound, professional presentation, outstanding sound stage. I also own an OPPO HA-2 dac/amp which features a ESS 9018 chip but I find the DX7 to be better in terms of presentation (not quite as cold sounding). Hope that helps.

EstasenkoI agree with your findings, this is also how I describe my DX7.

d3rrlckI’m 99% sure it does not. The contents dont List one and the website lists that a remote no longer comes with the DX7s. They just got lazy and reused the old picture from the DX7.. I wouldn’t expect it.
