Well strangely enough my order getting canceled and refunded actually saved me a bit of money.... After i got refunded because they were on back order i looked around for a bit and eventually decided on buying the older DX7 direct from China on Aliexpress, At the time Aliexpress was having a sale aswell so i managed to to get it for about $330 USD with free express shipping so i was pretty happy Then something amazing happened... The package arrived about a week later and when i opened it to my amazement was a legit brand new DX7s!! even tho i had ordered a DX7 and only paid $330 xD Needless to say I'm no longer disappointed my drop was canceled. As the for the unit itself I'm very happy with it so far! It sounds and looks great <3

Danieru001Itsa freaking amazing DAC and for the price, ONLY one with balanced XLR outs.
Pairs really well with HD800S.
A lot of people will complain about the headphone out impedance, but its sounds pretty good, however i do mainly use mine as a DAC only.

bloodhawkFrom what I've heard only real sensitive and/or analytical cans need the 8x impedance buffer, and even then it's just the suggestion to minimize the risk of noise/distortion, not the end all, be all.
And if you're spending the money on this, you probably know what you're getting into.

Danieru001Lucky you! I have to agree with the HD800S pairing and I like it over the schiit mimbi\magni stack. Also stacks well with my tube amp.

pedro_janeiroWell I am far from an audio expert but @amirm who is very knowledgeable has reviewed both the product's you're interested on his website. Schiit Bitfrost https://audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/measurement-and-review-of-schiit-bifrost-multibit-dac.2319/
Topping DX7s https://audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/review-and-measurements-of-topping-dx7s-dac-and-headphone-amp.2378/
Hope that helps :)

pedro_janeiroI don't have nor listened to a Bitfrost Multibit (bimby) but I do have a Magni Multibit (mimby) which is essentially a non-upgradable bimby. That stack in my picture consist of the bimby, magni2uber and the Loki. Sound wise the mimby stack has a warmer tone than dx7s. To my ears, the mimby stack sounds real similar to a Chord Mojo. I've recently taken a liking towards the sound of Sabre dacs which is why I got this and i also wanted a balanced desktop dac. The Sabre sound has a colder tone which gives it that perception of being more detailed. However the mimby stack is equally just as detailed. I guess the takeaway is that if you prefer a warm tone and don't need balanced then I'd pick the mimby stack over the dx7s.
I was planning to pair the dx7s with a more powerful balanced amp but then I think I'll put that on hold for now since there is enough power to drive my Sennheiser HD800s to more than loud enough volumes, which is around -30db, and still has a little more headroom to spare. I haven't tested the dx7s with my planars yet since I don't have balanced connectors for those nor do I think it'll properly drive them due to relatively low power output compared to the magni and lyr2.

rodizzleHi, thanks for the comment on the HD800. Do you think it's a good match? I had the Schiit Jotunheim and even on low gain, it great at driving the HD800, but the specs for the Jotunheim was like 500mW at 900ohms were as the DX7s is only 275mW at 300ohms. Not sure how the Dx7s is going to drive the HD800. Do you have additional thoughts on this? Also, how does the DAC sound?
