If you have any doubts about this unit, don't. Just jump on it. I've owned much more expensive gear and this thing just feels much more expensive than what you outlay in its overall build quality, features ease of use and sound. The volume implementation on this unit is excellent with a huge range and perfect channel balance (perfect for my studio monitors with very high non adjustable gain.) Worked right out of the box plugging it into Windows 10. To get DSD to work requires their proprietary driver though. Another thing worth mentioning is unlike 95% of DSD capable dacs, this one has very little if any switching noise between DSD tracks or switching from DSD back to PCM. Every unit i've tested (CMA600i audiogd r2r11 burson conductor v2+) had obnoxious popping/clicking. The only fault I can find with the unit is its high output impedance. The headphone amp sounds great if you plan on using it with higher impedance headphones such as the dt880 250/600ohm HD6XX or HD800 but not ideal for low impedance dynamic headphones as it can skew their frequency response. You'll be fine with lower impedance planars though.
