Can this amp be used with PC while being constantly plugged in to usb for power, or will this kill the battery and it is only inteted to be used as portable amp on the go?
Maybe somebody can help me with advice regarding my need and a recomendation of a good amp for my particular set up. I just bought myself a pair of DT 770 Pro 80 ohms to be used mostly on my PC for streaming and listening to music etc. I have an external sound card with dac and built in amp (Asus Xonar U7). While this card can get my dt’s to an uncomfortably loud levels, I dont feel like there is enough bass coming out of my cans (I heard that the 80s supposed to be really bassy, but even my Logitech X-550 speakers, which are very far from being and audiphile piece of equipment give me a much punchier lows).
Also, I tried using my dt’s with my pixel xl, and the sound is super quite and bass is non-existent. I am not planning to be using the dt‘s on the go a lot, but I am getting the koss porta pro massdrop eddition whenever they will be shipped to me from md around December.
So tl;dr, is it worth it getting an amp for my dt’s, and is it going to improve the bass compared to my asus xonar u7? If so, will this be a decent amp for my purposes or can you recomend something I ahould get instead in the under 100$ range? Will the porta pros benefit from an amp?
Thanks

makatsI think the answer to this will depend on what you consider good bass. Keep in mind that the DT770 was designed for sub bass frequencies and this can Won’t give you boomy bass like a v-moda m100. A good amp will help the overall sound and a bass boost will certainly increase the bass response if that’s what youre looking for, even make it boomy.. but that’s a feature of the bass boost, not proper amping.

makatsI have a love/hate for the NX1s. It pumps out clean and non-distorted sound. It's also shielded and I don't hear any RFI noises from my phone. I hate how bad it rolls off sub bass frequencies. I wish the bass boost switch affected lower frequencies because when switched on, it becomes a little too boomy in the upper bass area with my headphones. This amp does sound really good with my Einsear T2 IEM's though!

photosonicIf you check out the thread over at Head-fi you can find a simple but soldering required mod to remove the sub bass roll off. I've done it and am quite pleased with the result.

bsoplingerI'm user photosonic on Head-fi also. I've posted in that thread and going to do the solder bypass soon.

makatsan amp will clearly improve your sound, but a better one will improve it better. take a look at the aune b1 too. this, probably will make them sound better but one of those, much better.
