It's tempting, but I had the NX4 and had to return it because of all the popping/skipping on my Nexus 6p. This has the same op-amp layout, so my guess is it's basically a shrunken NX4. If it works proper with your phone, it will be an amazing deal, but depending on the internals, it may have issues with the 6p and possibly all of Android.
I just wish I knew if it used the same decoding (DAC) as the NX4, but I can't seem to find that information.
EDIT: Correction, it looks like it doesn't use the double buffer like the NX4, so it could be a completely different design. Anyone find the actual DAC chip they used? EDIT2: Thanks to thefitz, the NX2S DAC is TI's PCM5101A EDIT3: I've emailed Topping asking what the DAC is on the NX4. Will update when they reply. EDIT4: They replied:
Hello Thank you for contacting TOPPING support. We are happy to assist. We use TI's PCM5102A in NX4. Best Regards! ---------------------------------- TOPPING service 26th Jiaomen Road, Huangge Town, Nansha, Guangzhou, China Zip code: 511455
EDIT5: So it seems there is a similar albeit technically different design. Looks like the 5102A just has a better SNR and shares the same spec sheet. Unfortunately for me, it means that the skipping will probably still be there, or at least is highly likely, so I have to sit this one out. I would want to be able to return it quickly if it doesn't work, so hopefully Amazon gets it soon enough for Prime.
