What are the keycaps?
Feb 26, 2016
DustyRuinsThey are "high profile" PBT keycaps. The closest cap that you can compare them to that is also readily available is the Signature Plastics SA profile keycaps. These taller thank standard OEM keycaps, and they also are nicely profiled. A unique feature about these caps are that they have a "homing row" where ASDF JKL: all are deep dish keys. This may take a little getting used to, but I've found it extremely comfortable, so comfortable in fact that I am including a homing row like the HiPro's on my next Jukebox drop.
For a better picture of the side profile here is one of these same caps on my HHKB:

This is easily one of my favorite keyboards of all time, I highly recommend it.

livingspeedbumpTell me if I am wrong: I can get the 104UG keys and put those directly on my HHKB but not the other way around due to different stems... Then what do you do with the 104G? Please give me an alternative to jump on that nice swimming pool!

DanielFerrerWell for starters it isnt a perfect fit. if you look in my pic, the right shift uses the lower keys from the bottom row. The stems are the same, but the housings on the HiPro are different than any other topre board, so yeah, even if you got another set of RF keys you'd be screwed. If you want to go this route, buying a cheap(er) vintage Nissho HiPro from Japan is a better alternative.
My favorite keyboard ever is the 55g Realforce 87u though. Sadly there is no HiPro varaint AND due to the TKL Realforce keyboards having indicator LED's under the switches (for Caps, Scroll) the slider housing is special and sideways on the left hand CTRL cap, making it unable to take a full set of HiPro Caps. Fortunately there is a tiny little modification you can do with a dremel and you'll end up with the most glorious keyboard ever! Here is my 10AE 55g HiPro 87U!

And here is how to do it: https://www.keychatter.com/2016/01/29/how-to-making-a-hipro-compatible-tkl-87u/

livingspeedbumpIt is incredible @livingspeedbump but the issue is that my 104UG is trash in the moment I obtain the Hipro keys... which is in fact a problem. Also what about the wooble-keycap feeling everybody talks about as the stems are not so tall in the RF87 or the HHKB?

DanielFerrerYeah, at this moment having a HiPro 87U/HHKB is really a huge money dump.
So, on my 87U pictured above I actually swapped out the larger housings as well to prevent any extra wobble. On the F row there are just normal housings and they still feel pretty good. Obviously that is not possible on the HHKB, and the wobble was a little noticeable for sure.
