LazylewisI couldn't help but think the exact same thing.
Topre keyboard, check. High end model, check. Big price tag, check. Oh... wait, RGB keys, nevermind. lol

SokoMy first PC, as many people's are, was all about lights, and looks, and the elite hacker/gamer aesthetic. As I grew more knowledgeable about computers, I matured, and so did my tastes. Now it's all about clean lines, pure power, and a super sleek aesthetic. RGB still falls into the "my first PC" category for most of your more seasoned PC enthusiasts. RGB back-lighting behind monitors or a desk is elegant, as is well-done and hidden in-case RGB lighting. But RGB everything looks tacky and childish in a way. So this was a very well respected keyboard, with a well respected switch, but now it has RGB for every key, it just looks like an overpriced, run of the mill Razer keyboard. That would be what's wrong with RGB.

BloozyyI cant decide on it because I like the toohre switch but like the gateron purple and then there is the classic cherry mx brown. so i just dont know what i will be satisfied with. there is that mass drop with the ibm; look i like that one.

LazylewisPersonally, I like RGB because of flexibility, to match any current or future color scheme on my PC build. I don't actually set it to some rainbow scheme like all the pictures show, I usually just set the backlight to all-white - and from what I see of most people with RGB, they do something similar.
Or you can just turn the LEDs off if you want.

SokoIf you think it will get easier to decide... it won't. I have 8 mechs now, soon to be 9 when i order my jd45 with clears lol. Topre is a very niche switch. You basically either like it or you don't. However, that being said, if you do like it, you typically never use anything else. i would never do gatreon personally, but that is because I am a bit of a purist. My advise for what it's worth, if you can afford this much for a keyboard, order an elegant model with Topre's and give it a go. If you don't like it, send it back and try something like Cherry MX.

ScionydeThat's the classy way to work an RGB Keyboard. However, there are some who thing Seizure mode (as I call it) with all of the flashing lights doing multiple colors at once with the crazy key press responses are cool. Admittedly, it is kind of cool, but I would never use it like that. I have a Ducky Shine 3 with Magenta back-lighting. It has a bunch of cool lighting effects, but the only one I ever use is the solid color, and maybe adjust the brightness.

BloozyyWow that seems really indulgent. I wish stores would let you try and build it. For the cost I imagine you spent you could have spent $1000 on my marijuana company beleave pharmaceuticals last january and have 4k today. But its not too late we are about to get a license to distribute soon so that should carry our share vale to about $3-$4 respectivelly. The legalization will compound the value to intangible levels but if you are down and you have a yolo account this little outlier can pay for your future mech manical brands. Im considering building it piece by piece. I think i just like how someone switches look but i know i want some clicking with a tactile hyptactic bump when you press on keys like when you press buttons on a rumble pack.

SokoTry the standard Cherry MX Blue then. Click and bump, good weight, and a wide variety of boards to choose from. Find a style you like, or a brand, and grab one with blues. You will enjoy it, I can promise that.
Lazylewishate stuff like this, what does it matter if its tacky??? if people want a keyboard covered in christmas lights enjoy it
