The perfect keyboard but needs a nordic layout!
LMFAO, rollover has nothing to do with typing speed.
Not sure why they changed one of the best looking boards on the market to this generic boxy thing. It looks like a cheap appliance.
There's a press release from Fujitsu Computer Products of America regarding the R2 RGB floating around. A quote from it: "Pricing and Availability Immediately available in Tenkeyless and Full-Key Keyboard, the Topre REALFORCE R2 RGB retails for $399.00." Wow, WTF! The RGB had a MSRP of about $260-$300.

I have a Topre RF 87U 55g, a Topre RGB and a Leopold FC660C with BKE Redux Light (Topre 45g originally). The RGB is by far the worst of the lot in regards to build quality: two LEDs in the arrow cluster make only partial contact, the case doesn't have enough reinforcement so it bends in the front and in the sides, the sound of the upstroke is awful, the caps it comes with are of mediocre quality. The only redeeming feature of the RGB are the MX compatible sliders but otherwise it was a bad purchase. The 87U is a solid board, no complaints there, only that I should have probably chosen 45g switches over the 55g ones. I am thinking of getting BKE Redux Ultra Lights for it and installing silencing rings. The Leopold FC660C with BKE Redux Light, Hasu controller and KBDFans silencing rings is simply awesome, the best of the three in terms of sound and feeling. Now getting to the subject of the current drop: these boards don't have APC and they have probably the same caps as the 87U or the capacitive Leopolds. The only changes are RGB LEDs for status lights, media control keys on the Fn layer and an updated look. All of that at a $45 increase over the price of the 87U (it was $205). So far, the PFU Limited Edition with silenced 45g switches sounds like the only board in the current generation that I would buy.
Where's Full size Ivory in 55g? MassDrop you've done it again in NOT giving any real choices here. PLEASE provide an Ivory Edition in full size having 55g. Is it truly that difficult for you?

probably less of a MassDrop thing and more of a "Topre doesn't offer that" thing.
schoolbus
They do offer it, please see their website for confirmation.
Is it silent version?
Look at the ratio of people who joined the drop to people in the comments wondering where the 55g TKL is.
Hackerpilot
That's what I came here looking for. It's sold out everywhere. It's what the people want!
holy fuck these options are shit. If you want 55g you need to get full size? Just get r1 from mechmarket. SMH ill praise massdrop when they sell 104UK
donutholer
They already did a few times before. These just happen to be R2 realforce boards.
Wow... an $8 saving! It wasn't worth clicking the link to come here.
so tempting, but now that i've seen the RGB is coming with mx-compatible stems, i'm waiting. even if i don't care about the RGB part, that's the money right there.

Thanks! I thought it wasn't out yet. Where can I get one? Edit: I meant the tkl, which isn't out yet. Thanks again for the info!

Well, apparently Fujitsu did a press release today about the RGB R2 TKL and the MSRP is $399.99USD, no word yet on when it's coming out.
Got excited until I saw no 55g TKL. Amazon had these for about 258...
Mehh why all tkl's are variable? This is stupid. I was so excited and now I got to pass this drop...
Can I join in late? I thought the drop was ending tomorrow but it seems it ended earlier today.
I wish this was the ivory variant.
Waiting for the full size PFU special edition to come out then I'll jump the gun. For those who don't know the PFU special edition is all 45g silenced with APC.

Hyde
you do
Anyone know if this is compatible with Norbaforce?
theyeargh
It is not.
Tried out the R2 boards in Tokyo earlier this month. Build quality isn't great and the silenced versions have reduced tactility. The silent variable versions are nothing like the silenced RF 104U. Decided to get a Leopold FC660C instead.

+2 not sure what you were comparing but my R2 has bested any other RF I have ever owned. Its incredibly well built, there's not one part of the inside and out that felt inferior to the others.

Are you sure you weren't testing the RGB version? My R2 PFU Limited Edition has build quality that is on par, if not better than the 87U.
  • There is little to no space bar rattle on the R2
  • The domes feel smoother on the R2
  • The sub dye on the pbt is high quality with crisp corners and text on the R2
  • The rubber feet on the R2 is solid and grips the hell out of my desk
  • Keycaps have reduced wobble on the R2
One thing you are right about is the reduced tactility, but that was intentional by PFU if you look at their new force graph and tbh I think it is fitting for the 45g silenced version.
Why no iso?
cnyborg
Amazon Japan has them.
cnyborg
A cursory google search will turn up where to find Topre keyboards in ISO, as they are not standard offerings: https://www.keyboardco.com/blog/index.php/2017/03/topre-keyboards-in-eu-iso-uk-swedish-german/
Are the switches MX compatible like the ones on the Realforce RGB?
Ilhm
No, it's not MX compatible switches.
I would be very interested in this drop if you were featuring the all-45g special edition. Many others would likely be interested in the all-55g version. Quite a few people find the 30g weight in the variable version to be much too light.

Yeah, that's what I'm gonna do. Sadly they don't ship the keyboard directly to my country, but thankfully I have a friend living in Japan so I'll ask him to bring it here when he comes back.

Hope you enjoy it, I've been liking it more than the Type-S I had before! The APC is a very neat feature and it starts to feel strange without it sometimes.
I would love to join the drop, but I will not be in USA until march... someone knows if its possible to dely the mailing ?
Ceczenie
There will probably be another drop before then.
You shouldn't name it mechanical, it's capacitive!

? There are sliders. The plunger is the slider. The keycap pushes the slider down on the "cup rubber". Source: Own multiple Topre keyboards and have modded them all. Though I still wouldn't really call this a mechanical keyboard.
Does this one have cherry MX Stabs?

@schoolbus That's why I asked...

No
With APC?
OrShalev
actuation point changer. (1.5mm, 2.0mm, 3.0mm)
Wish there was a 55g instead of variable. The 45g is too light for me.
