ecolemanThe tracker 01 is purpose built for large chopping and rough wood planing. Run a few models smaller and you've got a handy bushcraft knife with a dope saw back. Check out the Tracker 02 or 03

Knfmnthanks — i am unfamiliar with this but intrigued by the idea of adding a blade specific to my bug-out kit that i just leave in the tupperwares in the basement. if not this one, what do you recommend? my edc is a Spyderco C28PGRE2 Dragonfly 2

octavecatHonestly, a lot of people are well served with Mora knives. They are inexpensive and take a good edge. You can do just about anything you want with them. The fireknife that they designed with LightMyFire shows up here pretty often and is very nice and reliable. A big bonus of their price is that if you leave it in your kit and it gets a little rusty, you won't cry! Here's a link to the fireknife buy that was recently active here. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/light-my-fire-swedish-fireknife Good luck!

KnfmnOh yeah! I already have that one and use it for all my backcountry & camping trips. I love it. Guess I just got all wide-eyed by one marketed as some ultimate survival tool. Thanks!

octavecatYou're in good shape, then! If you've already got one and like it, I'd grab another one just in case. :) Have fun!

ecolemanits function is to make fools part with their money. so in that respect it's very functional.
