When you’re running an ultramarathon, you shouldn’t be worried about the tools in your pack. That’s why ultrarunner, martial artist, triathlete, and knife designer Matt Graham came up with the Little Bugger: a tool you won’t notice when you’re carrying it, but won’t fail when you need it most Read More
Friendly PSA to people who comment about blade & shipping costs on MD,
If you can recommend retailers who ship to outside US & Europe without being ridiculous price wise, then by all means, otherwise, I prefer to choose carefully on MD otherwise forgoing becomes an option...which is not necessarily a bad thing either.
MD exists for a reason.
Generally complaining in any category is not going to fix anything.
Also, 1905 is more than fine in most cases, usually oiling said blade & a good sheath is more than fine for keeping said blade in good condition.
If you find your body produces excess oils, I suggest going to your nearest GP.
Hope everyone has a great day !
PaganDIt's not uncommon, nor would it be unrealistic, to expect MD to use different shipping methods for domestic and foreign sales. The fact still remains that their chosen method is TERRRRIBLE for domestic shipping. It takes up to week for me to get any items after they arrive at FedEx, and I'm literally a 5 hour drive from where they ship from.
I can't speak for others on their opinions of 1095. I'm personally alright with it on some knives, but my complaint is that they shouldn't price it like much higher cost / difficult to work steels.
1095 and micarta, in this small of a knife, with a bit of kydex for a sheath? The "MSRP" should be half what it's listed at, and a discounted group buy less than that.
I want this knife, but I'd be happier around $50.
In addition I can get many necker knives with far better steels than 1095 which to me is a lousy steel for being near your body which produces highly corrosive salty sweat. Two that come to mind is the Spyderco Ark in H1 and the Real Steel Mini in D2. Both are lower cost than this Tops knife made with a highly corrosive steal.
I can find this knife on ordinary merchants' sites for $72.99. Where are the deals on Massdrop? With very little effort I can usually find a lower or equal price with very quick shipping. By the way the last three knives I have received from Massdrop were defective. I am wondering if they are getting the rejects from some of these manufacturers in an attempt to offer the knives at a lower price?

MD - I love you guys, and gals... But, the purpose of a ‘Mass Drop’ is the purchasing power of buying in larger quantities... lately, you haven’t even been beating normal, everyday prices...
