How appropriate would this be on someone with small wrists? Or should I look for something else?

If you have small wrists, then this watch will be big and look even bigger due to the big dial and thin bezel. Now a 42 mm diver's watch in a lot if cases will still work for smaller wrists, at least down to 6 3/4 inches. I hope this helps.
