I am looking at the comments on this thread and I can tell why the state of coffee is so pathetic in this country! While I would not buy this maker for this price, I am saddened by the total lack of appreciation for the subtleties of one of the most intricate beverages available. Stop buying inferior coffee at inflated prices, and learn how to properly make a coffee yourself. The beauty of this device is that it takes many of the variables out of the equation so that you don't have to nerd out about coffee the way I have. You really only need to get the grind right with this the maker takes care of everything else.

211bmaHow is it different and better than an aeropress? That's what most of the comments are about, how it's functionally the same as an aeropress, just fancier looking and many times more expensive.

JamMastaJewThe timing is going to be more consistent because as long as your grind is on point, the weight of the piston is the mechanism for compression. I have and like the Aeropress but this has taken it to the next level. If I used my Aeropress more than just a travel option, I would get this. Most manual coffee makers one of the most disruptive influences on proper extractions is the human element, get it out and your coffee will be improved.

Does this device produce espresso? Is the resulting coffee closer to that from an AeroPress or Flair?

Why is the shipping so expensive to AU!?!? $70! Can't you do a drop ship? They're in Australia.

GES11TYou'll spend $170 on a gimmick coffee maker and then complain about shipping?!

scoopbbCan you please explain your thought process on this opinion? I have gone thru several reports on Tritan's leaching and flavour absorption and the studies show it is almost the same as glass in both cases.

of course a lot of this comes from studies on mice but ill just stick to cold brew in the yama
Same function, less money. Arguably less stylish.

I'd prefer a comfy cushion on a 15" cylinder--that way we could sit on it and rotate ;- )

Would my 800ml Hario 03 glass server fit under this?
KattisThis brewer will fit a server up to 5" tall (127mm). I believe Hario 03 is 5.4" (138mm)
