If there is really enough interest for the add-ons you guys are talking about, then I wouldn't rule out a future add-on kit. If not run by intelli, then someone else can do it. It's not like anyone owns the rights to the TA colorway. GMK can color match these caps to make them. I do agree that this buy already has the right keys included. Adding more would have add cost, and these are already pushing it at $100 for most people.

ReijiI agree with you. ISO language keys *SHOULD* definitely be a seperate add on. Personally, I would have wanted the ISO keys to be an optional kit, with language keys for the main layouts included. I would be willing to pay a lot for this, as would most diehard ISO users.
This has been previously achieved with SP group buys, and I am hoping for GMK to slowly open their doors and minds. This group buy proves they are willing to work with the community, which is why I had high hopes this chance for the worldwide community of keyboard enthusiasts would not get wasted as I feel it is now.
Massdrop, keep your eyes on these comments, you can see I am not the only one waiting with my credit card in hand for the addition of an iso language kit. Please take the time and inquire for the MOQ for a language addon kit and put that on here, even if its a ridiculous price. Give us a chance :)

DT-AscaiiThe reason why you don't include so many kits in a GMK buy is because you need to hit 250 orders which is extremely hard to do. I'll be damn surprised if you find 500 people who want to buy an ISO pack in that one specific language.

DT-AscaiiFeel free to use your time as well as you credit card to gauge interest, reach out to GMK and organise an add on buy for the modifiers that you think are missing.
That is if you are certain that you can hit a MOQ of 500 for it...

DT-AscaiiIt's unreal to compare GMK with SP, as SP has much lower MOQ numbers and even there it is common occurrence in their group buys that ISO add-ons doesn't tip.
I know your frustration, as a Brazilian mech user I also root for ISO sets and I never saw one with perfect legends for an ABNT2 keyboard. As Uniqey's opening approach, speculations being that it's a GMK service to sell custom keyboards AND keycaps, there is hope that those matters can be solved. Right now, they are not.

FrostyToastThe alternative would be put ALL keys of ALL variants of ISO keyboards on the same package, to allow for an easier MOQ goal-reaching. And I wouldn't buy it to use, what?, 3 or 4 from 12 or more keys.

Isn't that basically requiring the majority of people to subsidize your desire for those modifiers because it will bring the set up in price for keys that most people won't use?

WhalesI think Vinny is meaning that all variants of ISO users get together and subsidize each others desires if there is another pack.

DT-AscaiiThere will never be an end to the extra keys that the community will want. ISO, HHKB, 75%, 1800, same profile bottom row keys, win8 keys, win95 keys, and it will always be a challenge to prioritize the keys to include with the main set to make everybody pay for, and an even bigger challenge to organize an extra buy as there will be issues of meeting the 500 MOQ for the extras.
Alternatively, assuming you managed to convince intelli and Massdrop to allow you to tag an order along separately, you can purchase 500 MOQ of each ISO key, and a very rough approximation based on Hyperfuse will be $1 per key x 8 ISO keys x 500 sets = $4000. It is all about getting enough ISO users to split that ~$4000 cost.
If you really want to make this happen, I'll think having a concrete negotiation with intelli, Massdrop, GMK, opening a vote, getting interest checks in the forums, etc. will probably be a step in the direction instead of just making comments in this group buy with fuzzy suggestions.

rabidwombatThis is exactly how I feel about it.
However there has been so much whinging and complaining that I am floating an idea on GH: if Massdrop is down for it, after this buy ends, we run either (1) a mega pack with all the keys that people are asking for (ISO, alternate modifiers, winkeys, 1800, etc etc etc), or (2) a bunch of child deals with all the same keys, but split up.
This way there can be no more complaining, because the opportunity will have been offered.
I think either way will be a /magnificent/ flop. But apparently people can't accept that without actually going through the motions. So why not put the opportunity on the table and let it play out how it may, maybe we'll get a pleasant surprise on a kit or two. Then we'll have good data for the future, and it will be a lesson learned that we can point to to quash complaining in future buys.
There is no prospect whatsoever of changing the base set that's up now. It's final. But if people want to go through the motions to find out what we, frankly, already know -- that there's not enough support for the addons... well, let's let them see how it plays out? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

intelli78intelli, this is exactly the chance we are asking for, nothing more. I would suggest lumping all of the ISO language keys for DE, FR, Nordic together into one "ISO addon", making iso users subsidize each other. Throw in the 1800 keys, regular profile bottom row and whatever else people are asking for...thank you. And sorry again that you could not use my TA for color matching.

DT-AscaiiHow does lumping it together into an iso addon allow you to subsidize each other? GMK needs at least 500 orders to make this set worth producing. Less than 100 people would buy an iso pack.

WhalesProve it.
And you can't, not until we put the option out there and see how many people order. I am thankful to intelli78 for his willingness to put together an add on after this drop ends. I am purchasing a set now.
Intelli, if i can help you with the work to make this addon happen, I am on board.

DT-AscaiiFor Triumph Adler, no, we can't yet, but the run of Granite on PimpMyKeyboard saw less than 100 ISO enters bought, and less than 100 sets of 1U keys for various locale legends, and so far that was the only one to have all of those and the most successful ISO offering. More than half the PMK sets' ISO options didn't tip. That doesn't bode well for this, sadly.
Don't get me wrong, I think it would be awesome if it could be pulled off. But the odds are against it from the numbers floating about.

Nai_CalusAs I have stated before, quoting failed group buys from US based vendors and forums that were not actively promoted or publicized via european channels as grounds to reject a well prepared and thought out worldwide group buy such as this drop is creating a self fulfilling prophecy. Unfortunately, intelli has decided not to pursue an additional drop of the requested keys and I don't see much hope in running a group buy for those keys by itself right now.
I will remain in touch with intelli to see if I I will run an ISO IC and group buy in the future, as he has made it clear on GH that such an effort would have his blessing, even if it did not involve his participation.

DT-AscaiiYou want ISO keys? Azhdar made a mockup on Geekhack of them:
search

And that is worse than my original expectations: it is almost 90 extra keys. Basically an entire keyboard. I would **not** buy almost 90 keys to use just a handful. And no, I have **no** hope that this add-on would be successful, all keys combined or set aside by specific language.

But why be realistic when you can complain about it and throw your toys out the pram.
If you want a drop for keys - run a group buy, don't just stand around and piss on the efforts of others because the keys you want (~5/90) were not included.
Why is it the responsibility of people who are organising successful group buys to come around and hold hands with people. Get involved, run an interest check for keys on your favourite forum, and if it works enough run a buy.
Broaden your forums usage so that you are involved in it, I mean if you missed it on gh, r/mk and deskthority, maybe you are too esoteric in your habits.
Intelli, brilliant job sorting this, keep up the good work.

AdrianI myself am a user of an even more exotic keyboard layout: ABNT2, which is a mix of European ISO and Japanese JIS. I **never** saw any group buy, here or in SP, that contemplates my layout. And I don't go blaming GB organizers because I know that it is useless: there is no critical mass for them.
Brazilian's mechanical keyboard market is tiny, limited to well-known companies: Razer, Corsair, Thermaltake. Only the truly fanatical users that also know how to read English knows that exists a whole new world beyond those limited options. And that is a tiny, tiny fraction of the population.

DT-AscaiiThe fact that ISO is so hard to find alone proves it. Companies would make more ISO options if there was a big enough market for it. It's not impossible to see a trend.

DT-AscaiiGranite was on MD and sold over 1000 base sets. I'm not condemning the efforts to produce an ISO kit, I'd likely even purchase one; I've participated in nearly every group buy in the last 18 months on multiple forums and can say from experience even with MD help, 500 ISO kits is a long stretch.
edit: i missed that great post that was mine but more elaborate, sorry to prattle on.

Opa, beleza?
