I've tried to buy this twice now and each time it gets cancelled and I don't get to buy it. Is it going to take months again to get it back? I thought if I commited to it without waiting for the lowest price to join that I would be able to buy it regardless? This is really starting to annoy me now. I just want to buy this darn package. Why does this keep happening?
SydneyPaulaHi Sydney,
When you COMMIT to a drop it means that you only participate when the lowest price has been reached. If the lowest drop price hasn't been reached, you will not be in the drop. If you JOIN the drop, you are saying that you want to participate in the drop at any price, if enough people join. If you hit the request button, you will be sent a notice when the drop comes back. I hope that helps clear things up.
SandyLucasThanks Sandy, I really hope it gets listed again soon. It's so frustrating when you want to buy something and you have to keep waiting. It always takes so long even when you join a drop that goes through because of the waiting period for the actual shipping date. Maybe they can have one of those special Massdrop sales where you can buy anything on that sale page?
Does this drop not go through if 30 people don't join? I committed at $99 but that says for 30 people. If I change my commitment to buy at $104 Will I get it or does the whole deal not go through anyways? If someone knows could you please let me know. I really want this but it doesn't look like they'll make 30 sales in 2 hours. I don't want to miss out. Thanks for your help.
I have this rotary cutter and while I agree it was overpriced, it is a substantial cutter. Unlike the flimsy plastic ones that can flip out of your hand, this rotary cutter has weight and is steady. It's not TOO heavy, however, that it's uncomfortable. Very nice weight. Her blades are super sharp & reasonably priced (5 for $19.99) although you don't HAVE to use her blades if you don't wish. I wish I had seen this before I got the cutter over Christmas.
I usually love the deals here but I wanted to caution a non-quilter that might buy this as a gift that it is very over priced, even with the discount. The rotary cutter lists at $70 normally which is very high, a really good rotary cutter from Olfa or the like would be between $15-30 depending on the merchant, self-healing mats are $25 full priced, the book is $22 on Amazon. That would total out at $77 for full price but the mats and cutters always have coupons/sales so figure 40% off and the total is $33 for mat and cutter, $22 for book and rulers are so individually based that they really depend on the sewer. But even with the drop price of $100, the ruler, mat and book would only cost $55 - the leftover $45 can buy a lot of rulers or if you really wanted the specific ones they are $18 from allbrands as a set. It's not that I don't love Massdrop, I just think this particular drop is more about wanting a specific name on your tools - kind of like always buying DeWalt tools just because you want that name all through your garage.
Actually - if you read Tula Pink's product description she says it can be for either the right or the left handed. I'd post links, but maybe you should check the product descriptions for yourself.
I am left handed where is the option to say I want to buy the left handed cutter. I have her left handed scissors and love them. If only the right handed cutter is available then you just lost a sale.
suestubbingsThe cutter is ambidextrous. This video features the Tula rotary cutter set up in the left handed mode with the blade on the "back" of the cutter so you can see it when using it left handed if you'd like to check it out.

I believe these cutters are not left handed as you cannot see the blade as you cut. I am left handed and I wouldn't feel safe using these cutters as the blade is obscured when you cut.
You don't need to be rude; that person was trying to help you. Tula Pink said herself that she made it for both left and right handed people when she first announced its release.
