jim.banvilleThe wirecutter review was also their very first model. They have made plenty of adjustments related to the belt and belt drive since that review. Really, the wirecutter review is null and void at this point. I'm not advocating for or against a U-turn, but I think it's a shame to knock a product based on an old review that they clearly listened to and addressed the issues.

jim.banvilleGood to know. He doesn't mention using the nicer acrylic platter so I'd imagine beefing up the platter would help out with the sound problems he was having. One way or another it looks like he'd still prefer the U-Turn over the Rega and basically anything else in the price range.

xxsilenceYep, I've had a U-Turn Orbit Plus since October 2014, and haven't had the speed consistency issue mentioned in the earlier Wirecutter review. U-Turn stated somewhere (can't remember where) that a bad batch of a certain part caused the problem, and they fixed it.
I absolutely love the turntable, and would buy another for a family member if I had the cash.
EDIT: here's where I saw that U-Turn addressed the Wirecutter review (they did an AMA on Reddit): http://www.reddit.com/r/vinyl/comments/2m316m/we_are_the_founders_of_uturn_audio_makers_of_the/cm0ivmv
