UPDATE: I've started experiencing random cutouts. I have to unplug the USB cable and plug it back in to get sound back. Adjusting my rating accordingly from 5 to 2 stars.
This is my first DAC/Amp. I've been skeptical of the value of them, but this was inexpensive enough to risk trying. I love it. I'm using it with the Status Audio CB-1 headphones I got from Massdrop and a pair of Audio Technica ATH-SJ11s. The sound is excellent. A surprise benefit is the volume knob. I hadn't realized how much I missed a physical knob. :-) Five stars unless it starts displaying the premature death others have reported.

GnerdI had weird experience with that too, it works perfectly on Win 7, Mac OSX, on my friend's microsoft surface with Win 10. BUT at home on my Win 10 it cuts out then I have to switch USB ports to get it to work and eventually it cuts out again until I ran out of "new" USB ports.
Prior to upgrading to Win 10 I had Win 7 and it worked perfectly. I think it's definitely something to do with Win 10 and how they handle USB ports. Otherwise it's great when it works.

HydeFrom your description it looks to me that your USB ports might go into "energy saving mode". Can you try checking advanced power options in your windows and make sure they are set to never power save? Let me know it that helps, I am wondering.

cysmasterI've just double checked but my "USB selective suspend" under power management is already disabled and under device manager I checked all my "USB root hub" to make sure "allow computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked. This really is a mystery lol. Maybe tomorrow I'll bring out the device to test it again and see.

HydeI tried 3 different micro usb cables and the sound cuts out for ~3 seconds when there's no sound coming off my pc even for half a second (when i skip a track ahead etc). Also the light blinks blue for a second. This happens either when I plug it in the front panel usb or the back usb ports (usb 2.0 and 3.0) of my pc. BUT when I tried plugging it to the usb extention cable I have for my logitech wireless mouse adapter, it works perfectly. I will try a couple more extension cables and hubs I have at work, and will reply to this later tonight.

slapjacklol that sounds so bizarre but if we can manage to get this to work then it wouldn't be too bad of a solution. At the moment I can't recommend this this dad/amp to friends and family because it's kind of hit or miss.

HydeWell after a few tests I've come to one conclusion. This behavior is random AF.

slapjackThe white LED will only change to white when there is actual sound output through the unit. Even when it's switched to SPDIF output on the OS, the LED stays blue. Hope it helps.

bsastorlol yeah but I think our issue is that it cuts out randomly and sometimes works perfectly for no reason. Which is unfortunate because I actually like how this unit sounds.
