Oh, man.  :(      Just received my drop on this item.  Opened the larger of the 2.....no problem.  Well built.  Then I opened the smaller one.......the fish smell was overwhelming.  I don't mean to exaggerate, but the ENTIRE ROOM was filled with the smell of a boat's bait well.  I fish, but this is not a good odor.  This is BAD.  Not a happy camper here.  I will leave it uncapped for a few days, as someone else suggested, and will post a follow up.  I feel ill.....

chuck1252DUDE THEY STINK SO BAD!! I ordered some the other day direct from CountyComm, arrived today (Feb 23, '17). I've since asked them, AND DuPont, the creators of Acetal Resin / Delrin, for cleaning tips. Hopefully I get something useful out of one or both. I intend to post whatever info I get here for the benefit of our fishy brethren.

wibblesStrange you should comment.  I have tried an endless list of remedies, some which were provided here.  I just finished the mineral spirits/iso alcohol thing, and it is drying out now.  The larger one is unaffected by the stench.  But, I'm telling you, the odor resembles a smell I seem to remember from college days and nights.  'nough said.  :)

chuck1252I tried the solutions suggested, with no success. Ended up throwing it away. Not a happy customer.

wibblesRegular hand-soap and water has worked for me on every delrin capsule I've gotten from CC.

prongATODude, I specifically tried Dawn dish soap, soaking in 90% isopropyl alcohol for a WEEK, running it through the dishwasher...literally nothing worked. I've since left it sitting open on a desk for what looks like 6 months and only in the past month or so has the smell gone.
I need to close it up and see if the smell returns (that always made it worse after a day or so) but if it comes back I am honestly at a loss for what to do.

wibblesI hope the odor doesn't come back, but I think it will, after you re-cap it. Good luck!

chuck1252the stink comes back, the very next day. The stink comes back, never really goes away. I've met my arch nemesis, it is an overpriced plastic tube. Super power? Stench. Kinda tricky to describe. Maybe "Eau de nasty brothel" - I guess it kinda fits. Perhaps add on a fetishism - use anchovies as the lube

wibblesI’m not sure what to tell you. I don’t have the same problems you do with any of CountyComm‘s Delrin bottles. I have five CR123 ”battery lockers” and two Delrin safe sized containers and use some for my Rx medication and other pills in my pack. The only difference is that I purchased mine direct from CountyComm Instead of MassDrop. Delrin/acetal does not have any chemical properties that would create any offensive odors. My best guess is some type of oil based surface treatment applied somewhere in the shipping or last stage of manufacturing the manufacturing process. One thing you might check that readily absorbs odor is the O-rings on the bottles. Try removing or replacing them and see if that might be the culprit.

prongATOYes - I absolutely think it's the machining oil that's used, not the delrin itself. It has a very "organic, gone rancid" smell to it. But that's why I also can't figure out why the various methods I've used to clean it haven't worked. Definitely not the O-ring, since it wasn't even involved at one point, and the smell comes much more strongly from the large main interior cavity of the bottle.
Even at this point, I haven't closed the bottle again. I'm almost afraid to because of how annoyed I'll be if the smell still comes back a few days later haha. Perhaps leaving it in the sun? I'll get to it some day. I really do like all of CC's stuff, and they are definitely very well machined (the aluminum ones are no joke).
