Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

First impressions after 20 hours of being in my ears: Fit is perfect nothing to complain about here, my ears arent in pain or anything ( but that could also be that this will be my 3rd pair of CIEM ( 1st from UE tho!) and im used to the feeling ). They sound awesome right out of the box! Hopefully like other CIEM i have, they will sound even better over time. To me they definitely sound better at louder volumes. Im super impressed with the quality and fine details coming out of the UE 18s. They also arent fatiguing to listen to, ( i think thanks to that mid driver bump) which is a nice touch, some of my super neutral studio cans are pretty demanding on the ears and i can only really listen for limited periods of them before everything starts to hurt. Will be able to put them to the test in September and see how good they do at live mixing, and how durable they really are.
Comparison: My 1st ever pair of CIEM where JH Audio 13s ( 6driver as well) . They sound fantastic as well, compared to the UE 18s, the JH to me is more bass heavy and lacking in the treble. I do enjoy the listening experience of the UE 18s a lot more, since there is still some "sparkle " in the treble, and can also get really nice deep bass as well. Bass detail is also better in the UE 18s, JH can get muddy sometimes when pushed too hard.
2nd CIEM the super budget friendly 1964 Ears V8s. ( 8 drivers). The extra 2 drivers do make them sound bigger then the UE 18s, the soundstage is huge! But again you get more soundstage at the cost of fine details, low and highs do start to distort at higher volumes, and arent quite as clear as the JH 13s or UE 18s, but coming in at just $900 for 8 driver CIEM its quite a steal. I like to describe the 1964 Ear like a " wall of sound " there is a bunch of audio hitting your ear drums, but its all at once, and i feel like you miss somethings in the mix. But still really enjoyable for general listening and really awesome when watching movies!
So i am overall very impressed with the UE18s, and very happy about their $99 flat repair fee, that is going to be very helpful in the longrun compared to others brands since they charge quite a lot for repairs. Kinda makes me want to get a pair of UERM's to add to my arsenal as well.
Oh ya the carrying case from UE is by far the best looking, i got the bigger road case and its a really nice touch, the ones that come with JH 13s and 1964 V8s are just rebranded $9 Pelican cases with a soft cloth bag to hold your IEMS, I guess the 1 good thing is that the Pelican case is waterproof. But kinda sad that you pay that much just to get a super basic " case"
