Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. I don't see this type of spec on the Xuelin. Is there a specific device you or the community would recommend? Thanks for help this nube.
If you want to have a dedicated DAP, then you run into the Fiio lineup, iBasso models, and a few more expensive ones. I myself have the iBasso DX50 and DX90 (I really should look into selling the DX50 somewhere...), and both have output impedances less than 1 ohm. To expand on what Mash stated, it's been quoted by a few places that for amps, you should have an output impedance 1/8th of the headphone. Best place I found for info on that topic is at NwAvGuy's blog.
Obviously, there are many more options that you can choose from, and each one is just a little different from the next you find. One of the better resources you can use is Head-Fi, though just be aware that you may run into some bias.
