Are these bluetooth compatible like the 18's on the UE website and can the UE fit kit be used for fitting instead of an audiologist mold?

mbakesOverview page in bold:
Ear Impressions & Ordering
Custom in-ear monitors are like custom suits. They need to be tailored to your body. So as part of the ordering process, you'll need to visit an audiologist for ear impressions. Then, you’ll need to mail those impressions to the Ultimate Ears lab (address will be provided). The vendor must receive tracking info on the impressions within 3 weeks of the drop completing, or the offer will be canceled and refunded—no exceptions or extensions.

mayorblurpsThanks. I did read that but the UE website now offers a fit kit instead of an audiologist. Just curious if it is available as an option.

mbakesHmm, probably a specific request from UE since it's a purchase from a 3rd party vendor (MD)? Doesn't look like fit kit is an option, nor BT.
If I was in the market for CIEMs and paid this kind of $ for them, I'd certainly trust and audiologist's molds over my own fit kit. And at least that way you have molds done already if you purchase other customs.

mayorblurpsIf I order these, it will be the 4th pair of CIEM's. I do have molds but again just curious about the fit kit and BT. As to BT, I think it is just a matter of buying the BT cable for $100 from UE. Thanks.

mbakesI'd shoot a message to customer support and ask. They don't always see the comments in these sections. That way if there are options not listed you get an answer straight from the source! Good luck :)
What are your other customs? Out of curiosity..

mayorblurpsJHAudio Jh13 v.1 and v.2 and I forget the others. First pair I owned from a company that went out of business. I lost the JH13 v.2 with a Moon Audio cable (killing me). Really want a BT option. Also considering just grabbing AirPods which work well and sound decent.

mbakesIMO I'd avoid the airpods. They are convenient but you could probably just a get a BT cable instead and still use your customs!
Maybe go for a BT cable with connectors for yours or get the well-regarded BT amp/DAC that allows you to use your wired IEMs via BT?

mbakesI have owned a pair of UE Pro11 CIEMs for 7 years now, & just sent them in to be converted to the new cable system & to have the BT cable. I do not recommend doing the FitKit; having a professional make your moulds ensure the tubes will be the right length in your ear to align (but not rest) on your eardrums, the fitment will be deep enough in your outer ear, & they'll ultimately be comfortable.
Regarding the BT cable, both the traditional cable (Superbax with IPX connector) & their BT cable have the same IPX connection. You can purchase the BT cable separately, or call them when you place your order & add it.
Fun fact about their "newly released" BT cable: Logitech owns UE, Logitech also owns JayBirds. UE's new BT cable is actually the Jaybird Freedom hardware, a slightly different firmware, & the IPX connector. You can use the JayBird app to change the equalizer, & there are some pretty good ones available. Finally having BT for my UE has made it much more convenient, but BT technology can't quite match the sound quality of a traditional cable. UE's new traditional cable (Superbax) is truly incredible. The BT cable is a little dated; it's still using BT 4.1, it uses a dated codec (doesn't have AptX or AptX HD) so there's some noticeable compression, & it does have noticeable static noises in between songs or if the cable is powered on but not playing anything. Do I regret being impatient & buying the cable now even though I knew the tech was dated? No. Will I buy the updated cable the moment it's released & then regret that I was too impatient to wait for a cable that could perform on the same level as the CIEMs? Yes.
Here are the details about the BT cable, specs are on pg. 25: https://pro.ultimateears.com/media/pdfs/UE-Custom-User-Guide.pdf

mbakesI think I replied to you/this question further below; I'm not sure, so I'm reposting my response here for good measure:

Brou4164Thanks. I am tempted to pick these up at the price. I would buy a BT cable if I did if only to try them out. The truth is not sure I really care as much about getting the best possible sound which is why I am tempted to just get Airpods and call it a day. I tried my daughters for a couple of days and they were just seamless. The sq was not what I get out of my JH13's but for just walking the dog or out on a hike, they are perfect.

mbakesThese with a BT cable could be overkill for just dog-walking; kind of like buying a Ferrari to take out & bring in the trash cans. I'm not trying to be rude, rather encourage you to really see how hard you can push them & the performance they can deliver. If I had a Ferrari, I'd drive it everywhere all day every day. My wife can attest that I wore my UE11s every day for the first year that I had them; all day at work, commute home, chores, & (of course) when I sat down to listen to my stereo.

mbakesThe bluetooth cable is compatible with all the IPX/superbax models, which I believe is all that UE is manufacturing anymore.
My experience pairing it with the Live though is that the sound quality is pretty poor. The Live is 8 ohms though vs. 30-something for the 18+ so that's probably why.

mbakesIf you want Bluetooth and pay 100 dollars for the cable. Dude why not just go for an airpod.
