The pricing on this is absurd. I picked up one of these on ebay for 5$ with free shipping about a month ago, only difference is that it didn't shoot bb's but it was made of the exact same material.

EdcFanatici agreed that there is similar 'cheapie' stuff on the bay, but you should try to appreciate handmade goods. the build quality looks fantastic, and the materials used are solid. i am not sure what you bought, but it sounds like they had about $2-3 in build/profit AFTER shipping, and that is something i would not even consider. if $35 for a premium hand-built novelty item makes you groan, then this is not the site for you...

treykingI really do appreciate handmade quality items seeing as I have plenty of stuff where the pricing is based almost entirely on the labor, machining, and design rather than simply material, which I had absolutely no problem paying a premium for. However, this design is almost identical to the ones you can get from China which have been on the market for a while now so I'm going to assume this essentially copied it with no originality to the design other than modifying it to shoot bb's. Also i checked their website and the other "higher quality" miniature toothpick bow they offer also seems to be another copy a China made version. As for the material mine is made of, it's stainless steel and is fairly durable and functions great so I'm coming to the conclusion that this is ridiculously marked up to make a profit. For all I know they purchased this in bulk from China slightly modified it and are selling it for 8 times the normal price.

EdcFanaticHey, meant no slight against you, but you are right in that we are not behind the scenes and only they are aware of the time, effort , and materials that go into these. if this was a more expensive item i would perform more due diligence, but at this price i am happy to accept their offering and keep moving. I have been seeing a lot of negative remarks concerning massdrop pricing in general lately (not all their deals can be 50% off !) and wanted to throw some appreciation towards those smaller companies who put their time and passion into a lot of the items offered here.

treykingI actually wouldn't mind paying the asking price, even double, if it had an original design, nice fit and finish like rounded edges, and some more color options other than black. Imho this looks too bland and is rather simple to manufacture which is why it's available for such a low price elsewhere. It's simply parts cut out of a mystery stainless steel and assembled with screws. Personally I really enjoy finely machined items, especially cnc machined items which are precise to a thousandth of an inch, but this is no where near that.
