I once had four of their keyboards (2 Ultra Classic and 2 Classic). All four have been thrown away because they all developed issues within 1-2 years with the plastic rivets breaking off, causing many keys to become mushy and not register anymore. For the most part, I had them all stored unused for long periods in a room-temperature bedroom closet, in their shipping boxes, on a shelf, so not sure if Unicomp had an issue with those rivets which may have been resolved by now. (I ordered all my keyboards from them about 4 years ago, and threw all of them away about 2 years ago.) Too expensive to send back for repairs. One of the boards I had also developed a problem where the controller randomly stopped operating properly (or a PCB path went intermittently bad) and many of the keys wouldn't register. I have since decided just to buy bolt-modded authentic Model M's off eBay. Unicomp may have fixed their quality-control issues by now, but just a word of warning based on my experiences. I wanted to support an American company, but these issues were really beyond reasonable.

JimDetroitMight just be a bad batch. I'm using a Classic 104 that I bought back in 2007 to type this and it's still working great. I have a second one purchased at the same time hooked to my gaming pc and no issues with it either. Have to agree with everyone about the price as the Ultra Classic 104 is $84 and the UC 103 is $94 on Unicomp's website. And even with 15.32 shipping cost, it still .67 cents cheaper for me if I get the UC 104 from Unicomp direct. Sorry MD, this is a PassDrop for me.

JayC99It may very well have been a bad batch. I had purchased all four within several months of each other.

JimDetroitI had one go out with bad welds, I think? Could have been rivets. . . but, it was about 18 months after purchase and they repaired for free, although I think I did pay the return shipping.
