Can anyone iterate how does this feel against Cherry MX and Topre boards? I'm considering this but the high shipping cost and the 2KRO are sort of deal breakers....and that I just brought 3 keyboards last month...

HouseA Buckling Spring feels much more different compared to any Cherry switch - the key sort of "snaps" under your finger once you hit the actuation point, and there's a slight "twang" feeling to it, since you are buckling a spring. A Green Cherry switch may go "CLICK!" at best, but a buckling spring will always go "CLACK!" Personally, BS > Cherry MX for me.
Topre is on a whole different field of tactility than both BS or Cherry. It's very smooth, almost like it was lubricated with butter, sort of like an extremely high-quality rubber dome keyboard, minus the squishy sound & feel. You bottom out on Topre keys almost all the time, and it makes a lovely "thwock" sound when you do, even bouncing back a little, thanks to the conical spring at the heart of the mechanism. So it's also a very good choice, especially if you like it quieter. BS keyboards can make quite the racket. But Topre keyboards are very expensive.
tl;dr Buckling springs dominates the field of keyboard tactility to me, but it's super loud and can become a pain to type on if you do so for too long. I'll still choose it over any MX switch. Topre switches feel completely different than either MX or BS, and it's somewhat of a luxury switch - super expensive if you don't already have one. Comfortable to type on and fairly quiet. But again, expensive.
If you fear buyer's remorse and you've yet to get a Topre switch, go for the buckling spring. You won't regret it.

ExtremelyLargePotatoWow, thanks for the extensive review and break down of all the types of switches. I am currently using Cherry MX browns and about to get my Pok3r (clears) and Realforce 87U. I think I'd probably enjoy both browns and clears along with Topre since I am not as royal to one switch as most people are, in contrast, I like the variety. I am more considered about the key roll over as that can quickly become an issue when you type fast. Your comment does steer me towards the buckling switch by a couple of miles. Now I'm just trying to justify a place to use it, work, home, portability, I'm running out of choices. Perhaps this will be my Starbucks only keyboard to annoy all the wanna-be-classy Macbook users? :P

HouseYou're welcome! As for rollover for this board, a wiki confirmed that the Unicomp is only 2KRO. If you're gonna start bringing a buckling-spring to Starbucks, I'd be less worried about annoying those classy novelists and more or less concerned about how to transport and use the thing. This keyboard is built like a tank, and I won't be hesitant to use it in a zombie apocalypse and still type a perfectly worded novel atop its bloodstained keys. You'd probably be better using it at home where it comfortably sits atop your keyboard drawer, ready for all the key-mashing and roommate/spouse/friend annoying you can throw at it. :P
