Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. It's all about isolation and fit. If you can get some nice tips for universals like Complys (or the generics on Amazon that are better IMO) and can get that fit and isolation then it sounds the same.
For the price here you're going to get some of them best, if not THE best, IEM on the market...period. Custom or not.
Plus with universals you will usually not get fitting issues and resale is boosted a lot. Those CIEM's that you're going to have to price for $300 to get them sold could fetch $400-500 if they were universals simply because the person buying wouldn't have to spend time and money getting them remolded.
This is all just my opinion of course...but I do know what I'm talking about. Plus, in the end, if UM didn't think they could get premium sound out of the universal shell for the Mentor then they wouldn't have made it. Since they're making it that must mean it means their seal of approval.
