I had really high hopes for this backpack. I thought it checked all the boxes for me, but it's a disappointment. High quality materials, looks great, but has some surprising functional problems. My biggest complaint is with the hard upper compartment. It's too big to toss fragile things like sunglasses in, because I have other stuff floating around in there that will damage them. It also seriously obstructs access to the main pocket. The zipper is also really stiff, making it inconvenient to reach in to grab a pen or any of the other small what-have-yous that you'd keep in there. The outside pocket is small but okay - I've kept my ID badge or articles I've printed in there. This is the pocket with easy access. The open-topped compartment is quite useful - I'll toss a jacket in there or even a sandwich or burrito when I stop to pick up lunch while I'm on the go. As another reviewer pointed out, the pocket organizer is just barely too small for 8.5x11 paper. That would have been really helpful for me. I use the tablet pocket for this purpose, which is okay. The water bottle is fine in my opinion - not large, but keeps water nice and cold for a long time. I was under the impression that the bottle pockets on the sides wouldn't compete with contents of the main compartment, but that's just not the case. A more minor issue: one of the zipper pulls keeps popping off - I'll just need to get some pliers to tighten it down.

that_other_guyStick to reputable brands like Osprey. You don’t need all these dividers taking up room in your pack. Dividers/compartments should be EXTERNAL. Osprey Talon 22 is the goat of all backpacks. Never going back to overly stiff/large/inefficiently designed backpacks. My Talon 22 does everything you can think of and it only weighs like a pound or 2. Amazing backpack.
