Are they all made of the same material? That crinkle plastic like the Sawyer squeeze bags? The matte colored bags look like they are made of a softer plastic or is that just an illusion?
Hey, experience and knowledgeable hikers, 99.9% of protozoa sound like it might as well be 0% because of how many protozoa could be in a liter of water? Does this number sounds acceptable, should I even be concern about protozoa?
tvtruongIf you're using a Sawyer it's way better than 99.9% and anyways, getting sick from something like this is a numbers game. Your body has lots of defenses too, and it's easier to defend against 100 protozoa than it is from 10,000.
GuyPortalThose are counterfeit version from eBay-ina!
"Ah, eBay-ina, if you're listening, MD would appreciate it if you would stop selling their stuff for a lot less money. I think MD would reward you mightily if you'd, you know, knock it off..."
I've been using Vapur bottles for years, and I generally like them a lot. I had no problems until I bought a DrinkLink through MD and the 1.5L bottle started leaking on me after a few months. It surprised me since my several years old bottles that I carry/use almost daily haven't leaked. Vapur replaced my leaking 1.5L bottle and so far the replacement has held up longer. I guess time will tell.
I've mostly had good luck with Vapur. 5 good bottles to 1 leaking bottle. The oldest two (and still most used) bottles are about 5-6 years old.
That said, I've seen a lot of comments on MD from people with leaking bottles. Anecdotally it seems that if your bottle is going to spring a leak, it will do so in the first 2-3 months.
It's still a great concept, and (in my opinion) one of the best designs for a collapsible water bottle. But it seems that the quality control isn't perfect, so you're taking a risk. At least in my experience, they replaced the leaking bottle for free.
SitwonAlso had one of my Vapur’s develop a leak. Contacted them and they quickly replaced it, too. Good products, good warranty and service. Now if they could just help me to keep from losing them......
I bought two of these bottles with the DrinkLink system. I really like them but after 4 months both bottles started leaking. One from the shoulder (first image) and the other from the bottom (second image). Not a big deal when you're in the city, but when you're in the backcountry, it gets pretty annoying. I contacted Vapur about it, but they never got back to me. Sad to say, I'll have to look elsewhere for a more durable hydration system.
