Product Description
New to Vargo’s everyday carry collection, the Ti-Carbon Folding Knife is made from a Japanese titanium alloy that’s stronger and harder than pure titanium, and offers better edge retention without the use of carbide coating. Kept securely in place by the liner-locking mechanism, the blade has a wharncliffe design for excellent point control and cutting power Read More

Anyone ran rope cut tests or similar on this out of curiosity? The "japanese titanium" is definitely a red flag in my book, but it would still be interesting.

This looks alright if you only use your knife for opening packets and small occasional cutting tasks but for the size and price I'd rather a Gerber STL which has a better steel. Personally I love my benchmade bugout.

A titanium knife with an HRC of 50? Hard pass
IanEDCYeah, this is more of a fancy knife shaped letter opener at that HRC. That's fine if it's what someone wants, but it's going to be dull almost immediately if you use it to cut something. If you need a 1oz or less knife that actually works as a knife, get a Spyderco ladybug, manbug or roadie. If you need the corrosion resistance, the bugs are available in h1. Want more length? Opinel no 6 is an ounce and almost three inches of blade.

Just got mine yesterday. Pretty disappointed by the build quality of this knife. One of the scales doesn't have its edges beveled, so it's uncomfortable to hold. The lock is dodgy, and requires an extra little tug to get it to engage. There's an annoying kind of "half lock" position that's a pain both on open and close. I've been happy with other Vargo products- not this one.

Hi, everybody! Quick note about the purpose of this knife since it seems some of you have some questions about it.
In a nutshell, we wanted to produce a fully functioning folding knife with a decent sized blade for only an ounce. Ultralight products are our specialty. A lot of backpackers and EDC-ers don't need a heavy duty knife for most of the tasks they encounter, yet would prefer a larger size blade to a smaller one. Most knives, in order to reduce its weight, simply shrink the size of the knife and blade. Ours has a 2 1/4" blade (5 1/2" overall), is easy to sharpen, easy to maintain (no worry of rust or corrosion), disappears in your pocket or pack, and the titanium we use is similar in hardness to typical axes and hatchets. While not suitable for bushcrafting, this blade can handle most things you need it to do. Great backup knife, too.
So for those who want to carry less and have good function in a knife, this is the knife for them.
