Warning - DO NOT BUY this product! Took it camping at high elevation where the temperature was cold enough for snow. Used it the evening, but in the morning after freezing temps, could not open it regardless of how hard I tried! Mind you this is with very cold hands, so you can imagine the difficulty. IT HAD MY STOVE IN IT! If I had not been camping with a friend who had brought his own stove, I would have been SOL simply due to a defective product! PS. Still cannot open it 1 month later back at home. JUNK PRODUCT!

simianarmyYou had the bot heated over a stove, then left it sealed over night in the cold at high altitude, and it pressure sealed shut. Simple user error that has nothing to do with the quality of the bot. Have you looking into ways to release pressure?

PatCWouldn't coming back down to lower altitude & warmer temp have released that pressure? I was thinking about shooting it...

simianarmySimple physics here...gotta plan for that and maybe leave the lid a little loose. If I were in that predicament I think I might just try to step on or otherwise bend/deform the pot to break the seal if not other non-destructive method would work. Probably could still at least use the pot and get to the stove, but what a hassle and shame that would be. Not sure there's any simple (or lightweight) workaround that could be implemented here from a manufacturing standpoint...so just plan ahead for the super-sealing I guess, or go with a different setup.

simianarmyHi, @simianarmy! Yes, the BOT and BOT-700 can create quite the vacuum seal when there are major pressure differences between the out and inside. Fortunately it's a super easy fix. Just take something flat and dull and push in and up on the o-ring. It'll immediately release the pressure and the lid will screw off easily. You can check out our blog post about it here: http://blog.vargooutdoors.com/screwing-around-with-the-bot-unsticking-a-stuck-lid/.

simianarmyDoes not sound like a faulty product. It is vacuum sealed. Sounds like you are going to have to either use vice grips or puncher/drill a tiny hole in the lid to release the pressure.

simianarmy@VargoOutdoors - thank you for the tip. Please provide these instructions in product documentation (maybe a sticker on the lid?) if you do not already do so. For us physics-challenged backpackers, it will save us a lot of pain.
