Hi, everyone! Thank you for the feedback on our first run of BOT-700s. For those issues that were experienced on some of the BOT-700s before, we've discovered the issue and have retooled our machines for this current (and future) runs. The lids now go on buttery smooth and shouldn't cause any problems. We're also hand inspecting each one to ensure that every lid does in fact work well before shipment.
For those (and everyone else) who has experienced their BOT or BOT-700 seal up on them (making the lid impossible to screw off), please check out our simple solution to depressurize the BOT here: http://blog.vargooutdoors.com/screwing-around-with-the-bot-unsticking-a-stuck-lid/. It occurs anytime there is extreme pressure differences between the outside and inside of the BOT (elevation changes, sealing hot food inside, major temperature swings). This happens with normal water bottles as well but the BOT's larger lid allows more force to hold it down as opposed to smaller water bottle lids.
For those current or potential new owners who want to learn more about the BOT-700 and how it works, please read our newest blog post about it here: http://blog.vargooutdoors.com/bot-700/.
Thank you for your patience and trust! We enjoy working hard for you.
Cheers, Team Vargo

VargoOutdoorsFor those of us whose lids that do screw on and off anything akin to "buttery smooth", are we stuck with them? As it is now, I can take the lid off my stainless model and use it on my 700 titanium model but then I'm left without a lid for my stainless. The titanium lid for my 700 is very gritty and threatens to freeze up on both the 700 and the stainless BOT. The stainless lid works well on both the stainless BOT and the 700. It seems, at least in my case, to be the fault of the lid. Since you're aware there was a problem with initial production runs, is there a painless way of obtaining a proper working lid?

VargoOutdoorsYes, I'd like to know if there's an exchange or the possibility to send mine in to have it retooled. Thanks!

chuggerOops. I linked to this post in the email saying I had described the problem there. Actually, I described the problem here: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/vargo-titanium-bot-700/talk/578510
