Titanium is only good for high-heat, high-stress applications, and this item fits if you plan on boiling your water in a raging fire (won't melt or deform) and otherwise beat the crap out of it. Stainless steel could be stronger than titanium (surprise!), but will weigh twice as much. Will it survive a 10 foot drop (full) and another 50' tumble down rocks like a Nalgene? Probably, but expect a few permanent dents--but dents are better than cracks (leaks). If you beat on it hard enough it could crack--titanium pots and such are extremely thin. If you don't need a whole liter boiled then the ~$70 Vargo titanium bottle (750 ml), or the ~$100 Vargo Bot (also 1 liter but different dimensions), are a better choice. That said, I still want--no NEED some glam-gear!
