OK titanium is cool but please someone please explain why this is a smarter purchase than a nalgene water bottle with same screw on lid for 7 dollars? this titanium bottle is 17 times more expensive. does nalgene fall apart when the contents freeze? or do people like to cook in their water bottles? someone enlighten me here. TIA

wintermuttTitanium is VASTLY more baller than Nalgene. I mean, some people spend thousands of dollars on titanium everything just because they like it more and have the bucks to burn. Personally, I'm not at the point in my life that I can afford to buy a $120 water bottle, but that doesn't mean I don't want to... I'd love to have a titanium liter bottle. I wouldn't even hike with it, I'd use it at work. TI is awesome, strong, lightweight, and an easy way to spend all your dollars.
Also, you can't boil water in a nalgene.

wintermuttI don't know about titanium but I will say that a $30 stainless steel is way better than a $7 Nalgene. The water just tates crisper from the metal.

My main reason for using titanium foodware, is that it is the only metal that is known (afaik) to not interact with the human body. It will not contaminate any food or water.

zuluounces feel like pounds when hiking for a long enough time. titanium is VERY light in weight and VERY strong for its weight. that is why it is sold for a considerably higher price.

"significantly lighter than aluminum" - This is a misnomer that seems to have made it into the outdoor community. Ti is actually 1.67 times heavier that Al. It does have a better strength to weight ratio which allows with allows some things to be made lighter by size reduction. The strength also varies by the grade of each material. You can get high grad Al that will have an equivalent strength to weight as low grade Ti.

not quite sure which point you are referring to, bu i will take an educated guess and mention to you that a comparable nalgene bottle (38 oz.) weighs over 12 ounces, or 2.5 ounces more than this bottle. [moderated]

in this instance you are correct. i apologize to you for being so harsh. i hope that you forgive me for this, because i was wrong.
However, i must say that i dont want to dilute my apology too much, bu i feel i do owe you some further form of explanation. so if you are willing to read a bit...quite a bit actually.............
i guess what it is (generally speaking, NOT personally), is that it just seems like most of the complaints are constantly knocking Vargo for something that shouldnt even still be in the complaint conversation. YES, Vargo products are expensive (comparably), and YES, they are titanium. this information, and ALL that it entails, is old news.
therefore, reading this comment section ends up just being a constant listing of idiotic bashing of points that are already well known in our community.
i cant be the only one that has come to notice this. unfortunately, i ended up typing my frustration towards you 'raptelan', and again i apologize to you for that.
anyways.....'heyy, i get it'. i even personally agree with the complainers (to an extent), bu i am not going to hate anyone that can, and does purchase this water bottle. i am not trying to make it seem like someone might be 'crazy' to purchase this bit of kit, either. mann, if i could afford this 'luxury' item right now, i would buy one, too. sheeeeet, i think i would actually buy four. haha !!
so anyway, heres an analogy for those of you that might still be reading this diatribe:
if someone buys a new, super-fast, well-handling sports car (and its a Ferrari), they should already kno that they are going to spend at least a couple of hundreds of thousands of dollars in the process. it is already quite obvious and well known by now in our society that there may be some mentally challenged red-neck dinosaur out there that might scream out, "ahh shit-fuck, i can go that fast in my 60k Camaro....whatta rip-off!!!!!"....and yes while Billy Raymond Joe Johnson is correct, it's like, "yeah, bu that's the price of admission into the italian sports car Ferrari market". get over it !!
Staying with the automobile analogy, a Rolls Royce is also well known by now to carry a higher price tag than most other cars, but with RR you are paying for their TIME to hand make the vehicle. and i am a pretty firm believer in 'you get what you pay for'. SO TO SPEAK. (personally, i believe ALL cars are extremely overpriced, bu that's another story for another day).
n e wayz back to the subject of Vargo...
it is already well known in todays day and time what the main benefits of titanium are. it is also already common knowledge that Vargo products are around 30% more expensive than their 'somewhat' comparable counterparts.
with this being said, i feel it is fair to say that it is still pretty fucked up that Vargo jacks up their final price to us consumers due to the fact that they are one of the few manufacturers of titanium products in this section of the market.
soO...unfortunately, i will not be purchasing their $120-$150 water bottle at this time because of its price...bu let it be known that i STILL like a Rolls Royce. <---does/hope that makes sense.?.
look 'raptelan', hopefully one day there will be no more money AT ALL, and ALL that will matter is that we ALL live here on Earth, so we ALL get the very best of everything Earth has to offer. Because we are ALL Earthlings.
i digress. again 'raptelan'...i apologize to you.
and now i must get going, for time waits for no man, unless that man is Time himself.
and at this TIME i am gettin seriously loopy and delirious because of my lack of sleep. .....zzZzz....
i just wanted to take some of my TIME to start expediting the process of bitter individuals wasting our most valuable resource (TIME) on useless banter. hopefully now because of this typed entry into the annuals of the internet, i will spend a lot less TIME researching things on the aforementioned 'net from this moment forward. mann, i am tellin you , seein all these feelings all over all these websites is downright pathetic. grown men bitchin bout this n that....critiquing everyone....and then there are the grammar nazis ....arrgghH :^[
honestly 'raptelan', i really wasnt mad at you. i think i was just frustrated thou, and after re-reading what i typed, i could see how my message might have come across as a little too brash.
soO yes, this bottle is priced outta most of our ranges for our allotted water bottle budgets. and yes it doesnt suck, it fuckn swallows. lol haha
and btw YES, i still want four of them, a Ferrari, and a Rolls Royce......with a driver.
'raptelan', thank you for being patient with me. i appreciate it.
Good night.
