Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. There's a weird quirk that I can't work out though. The keyboard disconnects randomly on Windows 10 and sometimes opens the OS's right-click menu (haven't tried it with my macbook yet) and only reconnects if I press Fn + s. I'm a goober and immediately lost the guide, but the one I found online for the Fn key combinations didn't have this combination documented. For reference on frequency of the disconnect, it happened about 3 times typing this paragraph before I turned off the backlight. After turning off the backlight, the issue seems to have gone away.
Is it possible the keyboard isn't drawing enough power for the backlight? (my power supply is 800W but I have a lot of things connected)
What does Fn + S do? Am I cycling through something I don't fully understand?
