And generally just a bad class of headphone, there's a reason you see so few around these days. I'm not saying for the money that these necessarily sound bad, but you'd have a hard time convincing me they sound better than "multi-hundred dollar" headphones(which are actually worth the money and not a 100% rip off(meaning not some sort of counterfeit)). All earbuds are going to suffer from the same problem just like you could never expect an open headphone to be good at isolation(the way closed headphones are).

Yes, I never cared for earbuds, I'd always written them off for precisely the reasons you say.
I'm sorry you can't get them to fit your ears. The rubber donuts work well for me with reasonable comfort. They are quite impressive when they do work right...very balanced and they respond nicely to different amplifiers. I'm not about to shell out for a pair of balanced VE Zen earbuds, but I'm damn curious.

darkpanaceaNo, which is why I couldn't say they sound bad for their price point, just that I have my doubts that they beat the sound of headphones very many orders of magnitude more expensive. I also barely use my Visang R03's as is(currently my only working pair of portable headphones), because if I'm listening to music on the go it's likely while driving. And in the future if I was to look into new earphones(IEM's or earbuds of any sort) they'd have to block out sound rather well, at least similarly to to a pair of triple flange earplugs. I'd prefer this because I'd want to at least have the option to block out as much outer noise as possible as there have been times riding along with others where the radio station isn't preferable or is too loud. Also in part because of a hearing issue which causes distortion in my left ear seemingly caused by conflicting sounds or something being too loud(and I'm not even talking anything near blasting loud...more a level that many would consider ok), so blocking out another loud noise more than the usual single flange IEM's tend to is sort of necessary.

MooTatersI have a lot of damn IEMs and OTEs... I'm a bit awed with my stupid fascination with these buds right now, particularly as just got the donuts. They can sound very open, particularly with spacious acoustic jazz. Anything complex is too much for them.
I've not had much success with triple flange for iem's; comply and spinfit work best for my non-ciem's.

MotorradYeah, I had considered comply tips, just never got around to buying some. It's just too bad my Visangs came with knock off comply tips...though maybe I'll try those out again if I didn't throw them out.

Motorradjust to pick up on your comment about rubber donuts and VE Zen... I found I liked the comfort of these with no foams or rings, just resting them in your ears, you have to up the volume some and of course you lose some bass but they were sounding pretty good from a decent source. This had me curious and eventually I picked up the balanced Zen, using the balanced output of a Fiio X7 they sound quite amazing

AyohellNice! Yeah I bet that sounds superb. I went for a while without using the foam or rings and though they were good they were lacking and like you I had to turn them up. Oddly, what really works for me is taking one of those skinny balloons like the ones balloon animals are made from and trimming it to fit. It's the cheapest and best fitting option for me.

I could see how they might not fit tightly in some people's ears though. I have very small ear canals and almost no IEM mushroom will fit for me so this form factor is best for me.
Awesome "bag" headphones, or work desk headphones.
