These earbuds have the same housings as the Sennheiser MX400 and MX500 of the early 2000s. It was an inexpensive but very good sounding design. Check out ebay listing 302090057713 and judge by yourself. I have just received mine. I own a pair of the Sennheiser MX400. The sound is very similar to that of the MX400 even with no burn-in. These buds are unbeatable at this price. I have attached a picture with a side by side comparison: Sennheiser MX400 on the left and Venture Electronics Monk Plus without mic on the right.

PlisskenYou are absolutely correct. The casing is identical to the MX400. That explains why they sound so good. They took an old tried-and-true design and we branded it with stirring success.
