So, I received mine a couple of days ago and was surprised to find, among the other paperwork, a small label reading "This product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm." which is a verbatim copy of California Proposition 65. Could we have some info on which chemicals this warning refers to and what parts of the shoes contain them?

nothNot sure, though I think it is related to the stuff they use for preservation in the box when they ship the good from the plant to the destination country. I don't remember what it is the name of the company having stores in Europe. The employees that were unboxing the stuff for display on the store's shelves were experiencing severe skin issues. The company after being sued had to ask the plants to never use this chemical stuff again.
Maybe you should write to Vibram? I guess they would tell you which chemicals are involved. Sometimes it is to avoid future sueing procedure. If they wrote only State of California it means scientists around the world are not agreeing on the subject.
Also this website might help you: https://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancer-causes/general-info/cancer-warning-labels-based-on-californias-proposition-65.html

nothI've had that on pretty much everything I bought in California, including mugs. At that point I started to take the warning less seriously.

nothMany companies are putting this warning on all their stuff. Lots of companies. All stuff. Everything. Because the substances on the list are pretty much present in everything. California came up with this brilliant idea called prop 65, and it behooves production companies to put the warning on everything, even if it's untrue, to avoid any possibility of breaking this silly rule. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Proposition_65_(1986)#Abuse) This effectively negates it's importance and occasionally people have to be reminded that only California does this and it's stupid. --That little section on Wikipedia is a very good read by the way.--
What are the cancer causing agents? Just about everything (https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65/proposition-65-list). Including all drinkable alcohol, Aloe Vera, Aspirin, Cocaine, Diesel Exhaust Fumes (If it's in your park, you could get sued), ect.
But that's California, an idiot state. You should do what everyone else does and just ignore it.

Should I move to California if I want to live life dangerously?

LucQclol, just don't try to sell anybody anything.
Yeah, there are firms in California whose only income is prop 65 lawsuits. Like ambulance chasing.
