So much disappointed because the product received is significantly smaller while the "EU size" is correct and I can not wear it.

Has anyone done weight lifting in this version of the shoe?

I own a laces model and have been very happy with them.
May go in for these ones as my pair is starting to fall apart and these do look even better than those.
For sizing I woul suggest finding a physical store that carries these to find your size.

well that's a dumb reason to not wanting to buy something

RandomPersonWhat is? Animals are horribly abused and tortured to make lots of stuff. It's one thing to kill an animal humanely then use the pieces to make something... it's another to pluck feathers from a live bird or skin an animal while it's alive because they just don't care. Providing a feature of "no animal parts used" ensures that a buyer who cares won't have to worry about how the animal was treated, they won't have to figure out if they were lied to.

Question: They list weight at 7.5 oz. Is that one shoe and a pair weight 15 oz or is that a pair? Anybody know? If it was a pair, it might be a great water crossing shoe.

doug100As they are using the word "shoe" and not the plural "shoes" or specifying that it is for a pair, I would assume the weight is for a single shoe.

I've never worn any of these. Is this a terrible gimmick, or does its purpose actually benefit the contours of the feet?

AgisonI have a friend who is a very talented runner (usually finished top ten for women in Canada for her events through university) who told me I was a fucking idiot for buying an older version of these. Apparently there is/was a class action lawsuit because so many people fucked up their feet from these. That being said, that was awhile ago, and maybe they have made improvements to their design.
I still use mine for the gym, but I have noticed when I use them on the treadmill that my ankles seem to get quite sore - but take that with a grain of salt because I don't run very much anymore.

TurnbillsTo clarify, that suit was brought because of unsubstantiated health claims by Vibram about the very discussion we are having on their benefits, not because of injury claims. They still sell the original sole design on the Classic and KSO versions.

Thanks guys :) indeed it is always a good idea to work into a new pair before doing an extensive trip. I do have experience with minimalist shoes, just not this style and I have apprehension around toe length, etc. I usually will go up half a size but am thinking these shoes are intended to be a tighter fit. I love wandering barefoot, so I'm confident I would like this style.

trivmysterOf course! And thank you for your clarification. Since you are an experienced barefooter, GO FOR IT! I doubt you'll regret it. As a note on fit, REI tends to carry this model in most places and you can try them on. The toes pockets might not run the full length of the gap between your toes, but it'll be enough to allow good individual digital movement. They are supposed to fit like gloves.

WilkI doubt it, but as another commentor said, you may want to find a place near you that carries them. The sizing is completely different than the standard US sizes, if memory serves.

I would be wary of that sizing chart. I am a men's 8 Or maybe a 7.5, since sizes vary. My European size is usually a 41 or sometimes a 40. I have a number of the vibram 5 fingers and they are all 40 or 41 (there is a little variation between models.). I have tried to try on 38 or 39 and no way will those fit. Actually, my wife's foot is one size smaller than mine and she wears the 39. FYI, the difference in the sizing between the men's and women's sizing is that the women's are a little narrower so a 41 men's and a 41 women's are about the same, but the women's is a little narrower.

This is the most helpful review that I found, though this drop is for the Elite model which has the Velcro straps instead of laces. http://caveman-clarke.blogspot.com/2014/10/vibram-fivefingers-spyridon-mr-review.html
