My Mach 4 arrived today, August 1; the receipt indicates it was shipped July 26, and the shipping label indicates UPS Smartpost (or whatever it's called), which means it came USPS. I have purchased many new watches from professional retail vendors over the years, and don't recall any of them arriving USPS, except for perhaps very low-priced watches. MD should have shipped via regular UPS or FedEx, the latter I believe being the most common method.
Regarding the watch itself: I really really like it. I love large mechanical wristwatches, and this one is special. The mainspring must be gargantuan, because it took about a million turns of the crown to fully wind it...so many that I was beginning to think there was something wrong. It's beautiful. The strap is very nice, and will fit a wrist of up to approximately 8.5 inches comfortably.
The watch and strap look absolutely brand new.
However, and here's where something isn't quite right. I called Victorinox U.S.A. watch customer service, 800-442-2706, and inquired about a few things. There is a slot in the box for the instruction booklet; however, it's not there, just a small slip of paper advising owners to look online. There is the customary protective clear plastic cover on the face of the watch, but not on the back.
According to V. customer service, ALL of the Mach 4's include the instruction booklet and the plastic covers on the case AND on the back of the watch.
I'm not sure I would have bought the watch if I had known about this. Yes, I love the watch, yes, I'm being picky, and yes, it looks brand spanking new. But based on what V. told me however, I'm wondering if these watches are "B" quality, rejects, or something else.
I will wear it every day for the next 30 days and make sure it's absolutely perfect. If I have the slightest doubt, I will send it back. And I will think twice and thrice about buying another watch from MD.
I have two questions for Massdrop: why is there no instruction booklet, and why is there no plastic cover on the back?

cgalnyI didn't even get any papers at all with mine or even the paper you speak of. Nor did it have a tag on it which i thought was strange. Anyone else?
