This may be a silly question as this will be my first mechanical watch...can you get the watched serviced at any watch repair shop or will i need to find a victorinox specific shop?

Jamb0You have a MassDrop one-year warranty, but they don't state whether they send it out for repair if it needs fixing. I returned two Victorinox Ambassador mechanical chronographs from a previous drop and then asked for a refund. I've never asked if they send them out for repair if that is the option you want.
With that said, the Alpnach houses an ETA\Valjoux 7750, a movement that has been in production since the 70s and that pretty much every mechanical watch brand has used\still uses. As such, any competent watchmaker\technician should have experience servicing the 7750; it will be expensive, but you won't have problems finding someone to service\repair the 7750.
