Does the large second hand activate with the stop watch, and the small subdial runs all the time? I really want a Chrono watch, but I can't wrap my head around why they all seem to be made this way.
Dmf326Yes, that's how the majority of chronos work. The reasoning is that when you're timing something with the chronograph it's more important to get an accurate seconds time versus just looking at the watch, hence the chrono gets the large second hand while the actual watch timer gets the small subdial.
I dislike this too because what's the point of getting a nice automatic chrono if you can't see the sweeping seconds hand? On the other hand (no pun intended), if you get a quartz chrono you can barely see the cruddy quartz tick tock movement. Since the movement is less noticable on the small subdial, I've gotten some pretty nice quartz chronos that I might not have otherwise purchased if they were non chronograph quartz watches. At least i tell myself that's the silver lining.
