Isn't damascus steel just an aesthetic thing? Maybe better to get some real stainless steel alloy tools.

samliuNo. Damasteel is the trade name for a proprietary damascus alloy based around rwl34. Its an extremely high performing stainless, often found in high end customs. Go take a look on instagram

kaeterOh thanks, that's very helpful to know! Did some more reading, for anyone scanning the comments seems to have parity with CPM 154.
A deluxe tinker goes for $50. So you're paying $225 for wooden scales, a Damascus blade and exclusivity? I guess that can make sense if you're a collector, but that seems a bit ridiculous to me.
Maybe if all of the tools were Damascus...

There are 6000 serial numbered pieces being made. 300 bucks at the Knife center website but u don't get other knife free. Nice knife but to pricey for me.
