GadgetmanNo offense, but I know professional chefs using these hard daily. They have zero complaints, and actually claim the exact opposite (that their edge retention is so good it's hard to believe). My personal hands-on experience agrees.
Are you certain you were given legitimate merchandise? From your report, frankly, I suspect what you were given may well have been counterfeit knockoffs or badly mistreated.

GadgetmanAre you sharpening them regularly? Do you have a steel rod and know how to use it? Both of those things are small things that does wonders for knives.
