Why couldn’t they add an extra non-serrated blade to this 🙄

$43 includes shipping on FleaBay. Oh wait, you don't get the pretty red bow!

This exact knife is $60.65 on Amazon with free two day delivery. I don't get it, Massdrop has stopped making sense to me.

The new marlin spike can be used as a key.

A marlin spike on a multitool? Surely that would limit the diameter rope you could work with.
I've got a Smith & Wesson CKMAR for that sort of work... I agree with KamikazeSmurf - just seems like they added a spike and called it all finished.

PinchieThe CKMAR looks good! I've got something similar - stainless with the knife, spike and shackle key. I keep meaning to get something nicer (got my hopes up seeing the title of this drop) but the one I have does a good job in the meantime :)

The non-pro Skipper has its own peccadillos:

The Skipper Pro offers a proper marlinspike and a one-hand opening blade, but you lose the pliers, Phillips head and shackle key (and the corkscrew, which I've always used as a mini marlinspike, but it's not a big deal.) All multi-tools are compromises, I suppose. Personally, I think the Helmsman offers the best balance of size/weight and functionality if you're going boating:

A sailing knife without a shackle key? Is this like tacticool for boating where it almost looks the part and almost does the job? Some have it in the blade where the thumb hole is, others have it in the bottle opener where the fingernail dent is, or cut into the body of the handle or as a separate flip out item. Having it absent is unusual. It's like they added a spike to a their normal multi tool and called it done.
