Victorinox Swiss Army Hunter Pro Series

Nailed it! I know just how you feel in regards to this. I've had plenty of blades with "Stainless" or "high-carbon-stainless" in the past and it's typically a crap-shoot.. vs even 440c, D2, S30v let alone M390, S60, 90v, CPM based or elmax offerings..I usually stop reading at that point too. Though Victorinox are typically no slouch when it comes to making blade steel, this is still a disappointment. I'm sure I could find the steel type if I searched a bit but I'd rather rant with you. I wonder if Spyderco got in on this with Victorinox like they did with Benchmade for the "Griptillian" sheepsfoot line?

These days I'm not interested in a knife when the manufacturer doesn't get more specific than "stainless steel" as a blade material. There are simply too many other choices with known great steel choices in this price range, or for a little bit more. Once you've used a variety of knives with different high performance blade steels, a knife that is specced with a generic "stainless steel" just doesn't cut it anymore.
