Recently discovered the advantage of the Granton shaped blade versus the traditionally shaped Chef's knife--the one with the very pointy, point. The first works as you'd expect, the other involves bandages--and lot's of 'em!

I have a chef style one too and they were both (for whatever reason) provided by my landlord at my new place (as mentioned in a prior thread! my house makes a cameo) so I just use whichever is clean honestly. I just started learning to cook!

The description could do with some work. Describing the Santoku as a "7-inch Granton" for example. The bread knife is described as 'slant serrated'; what feature does 'slant' refer to, and how does it differ from a regular serrated bread knife?
Frankly, the price of the 3 piece set makes all the other options seem like very poor value. Too bad if you wanted anything other than the 8-inch chef's knife though...

Isn't 56 hrc a tad soft for a general purpose cooking knife?

Oh, wow, it does! (As someone who does software QA for a living, I probably find this funnier than it is.)
