If this is the V2 version, it'll have the option of either the Tennor chipset or the XMOS chipset. Given how there doesn't seem to be any options, this is probably the Tennor version with a max of 96/24 over USB. Still ends up about $100 less than they are selling it right now, but not the best version you can get.
Of course, given how the listing mentions both Tennor OS compatibility and XMOS input specs, someone probably did a quick copy-paste without confirming what was what.
wild_oneNot a copy paste. In the flurry of Black Friday drops we just missed the option that we were supposed to have on this drop, which I just added.
Stoked we have such an educated community here that 1) knows the difference and 2) cares enough to let us know, so thanks!
nicpopeIf this is the Version 1 product with the 24-bit/96kHz USB chipset (Tenor TE 7022L), then the given specs are still out of whack compared to Lake People's violectric support page at <http://www.violectric.de/violectric-others.html>. There's *no* USB software driver for this DAC, and purportedly none needed.
USB 24/96 for D/A Converters (Tenor TE 7022)
Windows, all operating systems from Windows XP—Windows 10: no additional drivers required
Apple, all operating systems: no additional drivers required
Linux: no additional drivers required
What this means for Macs running OS X 10.11 El Capitan, I don't know. That would depend on how often Lake People tests and updates the info for this superseded USB chipset.
caketopperThey've added the option for the XMOS chipset, but didn't modify the description itself to properly account for everything. It's still a mess, but at least the options are correct now.
